About This Blog

This is a place for people learning the Soranî dialect of Kurdish to ask questions and share information and resources. I wanted a place to record words I learn and grammatical structures I figure out, and thought why not post them online so others can benefit and contribute (and give me some discipline at the same time)! I will do my best to post a "Kurdish Word of the Day" in a sentence, either elicited or overheard, courtesy of my husband (no pun intended), as well as proverbs and cultural tidbits. Any other versions, doubts, or corrections are certainly welcome! Also, my husband is native speaker from Slemanî, Iraq, so what I share here will be typical of what is spoken there. I don't claim to be an authority on Kurdish, and will be learning as I create this blog. Hoping to hear from kindred spirits who share my love of this language, land, and most especially people.
